Back in December, the Japanese magazine Impress Japan published an interview
(in Japanese) with Sigma CEO, Kazuto Yamaki.
Of course, Mr. Yamaki was rather coy when responding to the unavoidable
questions about future products, but an interesting bit of info emerged.
It appears Sigma has something “groundbreaking” up their sleeves, which is
“not a camera”. Still, it may be related to the Foveon, or it may be a

Last year, Sigma’s CEO admitted that the 24-70mm f/2.8 EX and 70-200mm f/2.
8 EX had to be updated. At this stage, and given how important these zooms
are in a lens lineup, it makes little doubt that both are in development.
Canon, Tamron and even Tokina have announced/updated their own 24-70mm f/2.8
recently. Sigma should follow suit.
