Zeugma (from the Greek: ζεῦγμα, zeûgma, meaning "yoke") is a
figure of speech describing the joining of two or more parts of a sentence
with a single common verb or noun. A zeugma employs both ellipsis, the

Syllepsis
Syllepsis is a particular type of zeugma in which the clauses are not
parallel either in meaning or grammar. It is also know as a semantic zeugma.
The governing word may change meaning with respect to the other words it
modifies. This creates a semantic incongruity that is often humorous.

圣经中的修辞手法

一九三七年，一位格拉斯哥大学的英国文学教授麦克尼尔狄克逊（W. MacNeile Dixon）
说：
若有人问我造成人类历史最大的力量为何……我会回答……修辞表达。人类是靠想像力
生存的；想像支配了我们一切的生活。人类的脑袋，并非如哲学家所表现的，像一个辩
论厅；而是像一个画廊……若将比喻（修辞表达的一种）自圣经中除去，圣经的活力则
随之消失……先知、诗人、领袖，都是运用比喻的高手，他们藉著形象化的描写掠夺人
类的心灵。圣经包括了数以百计的修辞手法，布林格（E。w。 Bullin。ger）将圣经中
的修辞归纳出二百多种，举了八千多个例子，二百多种修辞的目录长达二十八页！
