you can later return on L1 or even ask them to file you under EB1C?

s********g 发帖数: 18 | 3 No. I am going to be hired directly by the overseas US tax desk and they do
not intend to send me back. however, I can always explore opportunities
returning to US office internally within the firm which i intend to do after
a year. The whole plan is to qualify myself for L1A/EB1c and therefore
circumvent the long wait for EB2, which plan I should, of course, keep to
myself for the moment. |
v********e 发帖数: 378 | 4 I see. Good luck.
I think it will hinge on whether the US firm is willing to do this. (
probably negotiable at Senior manager level & you could bring more revenue
to this sponsering practice office). |
s********g 发帖数: 18 | 5 i don't see the US firm will have any prob to sponsor L1 visa in general. It
is even cheaper and easier than sponsoring a H1B in terms of expense and
admin burden. I am most concerned about their rigid firm-wide policy, e.g.
EB2 for Managers and above/EB3 for Manager below. Also, if we were to
strictly interpret the legal definition of "Executive/Manager" for the
purpose of L1A, I think only Partners in big 4 can qualify as having
required managing authorities such as firing people. |
v********e 发帖数: 378 | 6 One notion at BIG 4 is "anything is possible" if you are talking to the
right people. Also, I actually remember there was a chinese on L1 who used
to work in BDO (several years ago).but she ended up filing under EB3 (after
she left BDO and went to corporate).
On the other hand, i would think there is a strong argument that a "manager"
at mutlinational company such as BIG 4 would qualify the literal definition
of EB1C, however, i am by no mean an expert in the immigraion law area.
better to talk |
S*******n 发帖数: 493 | 7 they can simply give you j1 instead of l1. those sobs |
v********e 发帖数: 378 | 8 I also recall that some European managers came to US on L1 at one of BIG
Fours a few years back ago.
So it is possible if you bring enough chips to the table. |
s********g 发帖数: 18 | 9 Thanks Vindelavie. I have no doubt Big 4 sponsors L1 in general. My concern
is whether they sponsor L1A (not L1B) at manager level. L1A visa can qualify
you for EB1C category for GC application thus avoid quota system and long
waiting period as embedded with EB2 or EB3 categories. On the other hand,
L1B is not helping at all to Chinese or Indians as you still need go through
EB2 (which i am currently on). The subtle difference between L1A/L1B does
not matter to people from countries other than C |
v********e 发帖数: 378 | 10 I see. From that perspective, I guess it all depends on the negoiation
process you will have with your US partner who will ultimately extend you
the offer. Most of them will have no IDEAS of L1A or L1B, let along EB1C. So
the point is, it is possible, as long as you talk to the right people (i.e.
, powerful, influential and considerate partner). Good luck!
I am thinking about the same thing to avoid the long-wait process. However,
I am still with my US employer. |
g*a 发帖数: 12 | 11 My company thought of it too. They are planing to send me to Europe and then
return one year with L1A. After I consulted with two attorneys, they told
me it is very hard to get L1A. If you are interested, we can exchange emails
and discuss more. |
