BTW，一般每个学校只招2-3个，有90多个学校有acct phd program，每年大概不到80个学校招生 |

company)? It makes more sense to get accounting PHD for a career change.
Decision is definitely on my own, just wonder whether they are people made
the choice and are happy about it.
Do not think its that competitive to get into accounting phd program? As
long as you have great scores and better yet, know your research areas
already? |

的吧，至少目前是这样的，整个career都不一样了的。 |

发帖数: 1867 | 12 现在好像拿tenure不容易啊，为了上tenure track前几年相当辛苦，而且也不一定人人
都能上，所以很多人也想回industry工作的。
所以除非你非常能够research,写paper，否则不要浪费时间。 |

很多faculty另一半都是不工作在家，或者会计，IT之类在哪都能找到工作的，又或者
两人异地，一周飞一次，挺辛苦的 |

I am lured into thinking about PHD more for the life style. What I am
hesitating about is whether or not I am good at conducting research and
write up papers... My other friends, who are in the process working on
tenure, have different thoughts. In general though, they think getting a
tunure in a university that is half research, half teaching is probably the
way to go? |

一样能做很好学校的教授，这就说明accounting phd和读一个会计学位找公司的工作需
要不同的skill set。很多人只看到pay的不错，但是要能发论文教好课，客观的说，不
是每个人愿意努力就能做到的。 |

into a phd program.
Many accounting professors do the same topics as finance/economics
professors. The strong background of math/stat is required. You also need to
have one coding skill (SAS, R, or STAT). |

识没有的也很难被录取的。

你是指所有在读的学生总共5-6个，但是每年新招1-2个吧。这种情况在acc phd里是普
遍现象。 至于巨难不巨难，看个人申请时候的条件了。

发帖数: 27 | 19 我之所以觉得很难申是因为我查了有一所大学，还不是什么排名很前的，且不说gmat，
他们招的学生本科gpa都是3。8以上，都是cpa，都是四大出来的senior和manager，所
以给了我这个印象。
