l**l 发帖数: 8 | 1 I had a summer internship in a life insurance company. 6 months full time
experince in life and then 3 years in a P&C company so far. My advice for
actuarial student is to try to get a P&C job!
Here's why:
1. It's more fun. Life products are pretty much developed and there is less
room for creativity. P&C has a lot more areas to explore. I won't go into
details here.
2. It's paid better. Just check DWSimpson - new FSA 93-131, new FCAS 111-
170
3. More exams! 9 CAS exams vs 6 SOA exams (I don't | l**l 发帖数: 8 | 2 Several points here and try to anwser the question in my mail box :)
1. I am not saying all actuaries in P/C insurance are happier than those in
Life insurance. It's just there are less competitions now for P/C actuaries
than Life. And on average, P/C actuaries are making more money as far as I
know. You can do very well in Life insurance, even better than most P/C
actuaries. But I am talking about average. 150k vs 70k might be too extreme
but you can see the difference on DWsimpon.

不过CAS考试正在改革,过几年就和SOA一样的考试体制... | I**R 发帖数: 1309 | 4 i see material difference even after CAS's restructure.
it is fairly harder to get ACAS than ASA.....

over 45 resumes since June, half to P&C companies, but only got 1 telephone
interview from a health insurance company, 2 telephone calls from others. No
any feedback from P&C side.
I passed 2 SOA exams, Canadian citizen, and companies resumes submitted to
focus on the States. I graduated for nearly two years, however I have been working
as a policy admi in an insurance company. And, I am full of engery since the
beginni

I am guessing...
top school + actuarial or maths program + Internship + Green Card?
If you don't have the above in your resume, then your situation is not
comparable with hers.
In reality, there are far more small fish jumping in the air, including me.
I found it very tough to get a job too, not to mention a good one. I've
heard that P/C companies are highly selective. Why don't you go with that
health insurance company first? At least, you get something actuarial
