Symptoms
In some situations when using an unlocked Sprint iPhone 5 outside the United
States with a non-Sprint SIM card, you may be unable to send SMS.
Resolution
If you are traveling internationally with an unlocked iPhone, you may be
unable to send SMS if you either:
Perform an Erase all Content and Settings or
Restore your iPhone
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.
Remove the non-Sprint SIM card from the device and insert the Sprint SIM
card that came with your iPhone*.
Wait until "iPhone is activated" is displayed on the screen.
Reinsert the non-Sprint SIM card.
You should now be able to send SMS. If you still cannot send SMS after
performing the above steps, contact Apple for additional support.
Additional Information
* If you do not have your Sprint SIM card, you will need to wait until your
return to the United States.
