Thank you for your recent e-mail to Cox regarding your Internet service.
We apologize for any concern the price changes, effective 03/22/11, may have
caused you. Sometimes there are misconceptions that companies like Cox are
paid to distribute television content. However, Cox is simply a distributor
of content that has already been created by television programmers, such as
ESPN, CNN, MTV, etc., therefore, when they increase their costs, we must
increase ours.
In order to minimize the impact on our customers, as a trusted provider, Cox
works hard to keep cable prices as low as possible. Cox absorbs much of
increases in wholesale programming and other operating costs, but we can't
absorb all of it and must pass some of it on to our customers.
Despite these costs, cable remains an excellent value for entertainment and
communications. Cox continues to provide you with advancements in new
technology to provide the features our valued customers have requested. Some
of these features include:
Additional HD channels
3D content Zone channels
Enhanced Interactive Program Guide
Upcoming cable features: TV Caller ID and remote DVR scheduling, with
qualifying services
Free Online content, such as series and movies, with a corresponding cable
subscription
Fastest Internet speeds available in Arizona
Free Internet features, with qualifying service: Cox Security Suite powered
by McAfee (a $69.99 value), ESPN3.com, Nick Jr. Boost (a $9.95 per month
value)
While increasing prices seem to be a fact of life, Cox does all it can to
keep increases to your bill to a minimum. In fact, when compared to
subscription TV alternatives, our increases have been less.
Notification of the following price changes were included with your
statement beginning on 02/22/11:

Please keep in mind even with these increases, the prices charged by Cox are
still well under the national average of other cable and satellite
providers.
