Arizona: Two Pro-Gun Reforms Introduced in the Grand Canyon State
As the Arizona General Assembly concludes the first month of the 2013
legislative session, a number of NRA-supported pro-gun advances have already
been introduced in Phoenix.
House Bill 2654
, introduced by Representative Darin Mitchell (R-13), would help maintain
Arizona’s rich hunting heritage by allowing non-residents who are full-time
students at a state or private post-secondary educational institution to
purchase hunting licenses at the resident rate.
As the number of hunters has been in steady decline nationwide, there has
been no better time to recruit new hunters to share in the Grand Canyon
State’s outstanding hunting traditions.
Also, House Bill 2655
, introduced by Representative David Stevens (R-14), would prohibit the use
of taxpayer money from funding public relations campaigns against legal
products.
This will ensure that public funds are reserved for legitimate state needs
– not to pursue a political agenda. Under this bill, taxpayer funds would
no longer be used to finance expensive legislative efforts that demonize
perfectly legal products – from everyday consumer goods to firearms and
ammunition. HB 2655 would prohibit this practice in Arizona and make sure
that public money is not used to put law-abiding gun owners in the
crosshairs of an agency with a political agenda.
Although neither of these bills has been assigned to a committee, the time
is NOW to contact your state Representative and politely urge him or her to
support these bills when they come up for a vote.
