发帖数: 29846 | 1 Garmin International Inc., an Olathe, Kansas-based GPS device manufacturer,
announced today it is expanding its operations in Chandler, a city with a
growing cadre of technology jobs.
Garmin will build a 60,000-square-foot building in the Chandler Corporate
Center at Juniper Drive and Galveston St. It bought the land for $2.56
million, according to Phoenix Business Journal research.
“These are the elite technology jobs, and employees in this industry can
choose to live anywhere,” said Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny in a prepared
statement. “You have to have an excellent community and sense of place in
order to attract and retain companies like Garmin.”
Garmin will add 141 software and product development jobs in the next three
years, and has committed to $11 million in capital investment, according to
the city.
The Chandler Garmin office will help support Garmin’s “software
engineering needs, including aviation, automotive OEM and desktop
applications,” according to a release. Garmin makes global positioning
system (GPS) devices.
Garmin has leased space in the Chandler area for five years, and has
expanded three times at its current office near Chandler Blvd. and
McClintock Drive, according to city information.
“Garmin has been a longtime employer in Chandler and the greater Phoenix
area because it offers a highly-skilled workforce,” said Kevin Rauckman,
Garmin’s chief financial officer, in a statement. “Investing in the
construction of our own facility signals a long-term commitment to Chandler
and the state of Arizona.”

so far, garmin 的地图是俺用过的最好的, 包括poi。
