seems to be better fit. Scorta in Italian means escort.]
The flight was in the air for about 5 hours before landing at sky harbor
airport. At about the local time 6:30 p.m., our phone got reconnected. Maria
and I kept talking and talking until our voice transmitting through air to
other side stronger than radio waves. We carried our familiar smile on our
faces, but soon stared at each other’s eyes, in the middle of hall way as
though no one else but us. The moment air seemed to no longer flow, the
moment I thought it could only happen to me when clock could have been
rewound. I didn’t know how long we were in bosom. “I am hugging a belief”
, I said.
“This is what this flight brought to me”, she murmured in my ear. Body
heat blushed our faces. We calmly looked at each other’s eyes again and
walked toward the rental car that Maria parked.
In frond of a black Wrangler, Maria handled me the key. I knew what this car
means to us, to be precisely three of us. Wrangler was my first car, a sort
of enchanted signature for our college and college free time, friendship
and love with mixed feelings. In those good or bad days, Wrangler carried us
, Rachel, Maria and me, to mountains, lakes and coast in New England for
almost seven years and embellished our memories, amazing part of life in us.
I turned my face to Maria who was watching my reaction. There was no word
but a kiss, a deep one from my lips to whom clearly understood my
thankfulness.
Weather was incredibly warm in the parking lot. I came from north with
layers and certainly didn’t have an idea about the winter in Phoenix. Maria
seemed to be melting in my hands. I felt all suddenly my blood flowing
toward my face. I didn’t want to disturb the glamour moment, but had to.
Maria unwillingly moved to front passenger seat. Wrangler brought us to a
restaurant directly. We both knew that we would not be able to have a decent
meal if we go straight to hotel. | w***m
