Don't rush to judge. Read the entire article before making your judgement.
The real story is not what the news's title suggests.
The information will be made available to fewer than ten people who will use
it perform a statistical analysis of how California treats disabled
students, Concerned Parents of California said in a Facebook posting.
Once the group had completed its statistical analysis, it is required to "
either return or destroy the confidential data at the conclusion of the
lawsuit. No student’s identifying records will be disclosed to the public,"
the parent group said.

Guess this is where common sense fits.
Further, if one group can do this using certain excuses. What about another
group? Another "fewer than ten people"?
Obama once said: "if you like your plan, you can keep it." Then what
happened?

I searched http://www.cde.ca.gov/re/di/ws/ for the [opt out] form.
I could not find the form!
If they really care about student privacy, why they do not make it easy
for parents to access the [opt out] form? |

number]. The [unigue number] can be used to get ssn if needed.
From technical viewpoint, it is not hard to hide the senstive information of
the recorders, while the recorders still can be used for performing a
statistical analysis of how California treats disabled students.
I am sure the school district will not come up with a solution that protect
student privacy while they has to release student recorders.
What they want is [not to release student recorders]. [protecting
student privacy ] is not their real concerns. They use [protecting
student privacy ] as a good excuse to fight against [releasing student
recorders].

The lawyers of the school district should have defended the similar case a
lot of times and won most of the time. |
