博士后每年除了公共假期以外，能休多长时间的假呢？时间能自己选择么?需要看老板
的脸色吗?
还有，签证一次能管多久呢？会不会也因为担心签证不敢回国探亲？

take leaves anytime you want. However, if it is a tough boss (abnormal in
Australia, haha), then you may need his/her permission.

ones like 4 weeks. No boss whatever how good he or she is will not be happy
if you only give 1 week notice and just leave a month, except emergency
Wherever you work in Australia, you have entitled holidays. As far as I know
, nobody can say no if you want to take your holidays, that’s illegal.
While for both goods, you and your boss, discuss your holiday plan help both
sides plan the project well.

发帖数: 1105 | 7 It is not a question/problem in Australia. However it indeed is a question
in USA, becasue PostDoc is NOT a formal job in USA and they do not have
formal 4-week leaves (although they do have leaves in somehow I don't know,
haha). To make things worse, PostDoc in USA generally only has 1-year
contract. Whether the contract is renewed for the second year depeds on (1)
your pefromance in the previous year, and (2) fund availability.

fuigsnrr你好像对澳洲和美国都很了解。据我所知美国的博后每年也明文规定有休假的
，时间每个学校不太一样，像我们学校的规定也不比澳洲短。只是好像大家都不太敢休
假。你说的美国博后续约的两条我很赞同，澳洲难道不是这样的么？从来没去过澳洲，
啥也不懂啊！ |

In Australia, PostDoc is a formal job. It is usually a 3 year contract (I
have seen a 5 year contract, haha).
In addtion, PostDocs in Australia generally have almost the same amount of salary (slightly less in most cases) as Lecturer (AP in USA, haha).

还有点问题一直比较糊涂，不知能不能帮我解惑？博后做完了出路咋样呢？应该不是所
有的博后都能找到教职的吧，那找不到难道像美国一样再换个实验室博后？我也看到有
人说做了博后就慢慢往Lecturer方向转变了，不知是不是真的。
还有，做了Lecturer, 然后是Senior Leturer这些职位，实验室是独立的么？还是仍然
要依附大老板？我知道牛人们恨不得早点有自己的实验室，我自己则比较衰，没有特别
好的想法，觉得跟着大牛也挺好的。 |

而且还要飞那么远，脚悬在空中，心里更是没底
还是当年来美国的时候好，大家都往美国冲，自己也随大流的跟来了
现在美国日子没以前好过了，朋友们有的熬着，有的回国，自己两个都不想，就想另辟
蹊径了 |
