主要问题是check engine灯时亮时灭,
Dealer的mechanic说是gas cap松了.
找独立的mechanic也没有查出什么问题.
今天找到这个最近的corolla recall,

可能和这个有关系.
如果买下来还需要送去换ECM零件. |

卖家说这个问题两年前就开始有, 屡次检查mechanic都说是gas cap, 没大问题.
昨天见面他说刚换了一个新的gas cap, check engine灯没有亮.
不过也不知道过几天会不会又亮.
反正昨天独立的mechanic扫描了engine电脑没发现什么问题. |

Did you ask for engine error codes?
I am guessing it is an emission system failure. You reset the computer, then
the "service engine" light goes away, until you cold start the card 2 times
AND run it for a while (maybe 15 minutes).
This resetting will not pass state inspection since the computer will tell
"not ready" for inspection.
Diganosing this system could take a lot of efforts. Because it has been 2
years for the car, I would think that the ower either did not want to put
money to fix it, or they could not find the problem. Yeas, it could be as
easy as a new gas cap,but I doubt it is that simple. |

Searching google finds lots of such posts.
This is what I worried about this car.
The recall announced recently http://www.toyota.com/recall/corolla-matrix.html is on ECM (Engine Check Module) which can cause check engine light on.
Don't know if this is the exact reason. I called dealer and they will have
the ECM part next January for a free fix.
Anyway, check engine light on is upsetting. |

Engine Check could be caused by many things. You have to ask the codes first
.
For whatever reason, the CPU detected something abnormal. |
