什么的要花个五六百块。
最近的财政情况也不是很好，老婆痛惜这500块，想还不如把这旧车trade in,看能不能
换个2000多，再买个08年09年的车。
大家觉得呢？觉得这个maintenance费是不是太多了啊？
BTW，这车车况还可以，去年换了个shock obsorber,换了几个轮胎，也花了五六百，车
子总共是5000块买来的；对车子的维护不是很熟悉，是不是这样的维护费用太多了呢？

1. I very doubt if you could trade in for 2000;
2. if you have financial difficulty now, how to buy a 08/09 car which
obviously costs more?
What I may suggest is to do the minimum required maintenance now until your
finance situation improves, when you may want to take an action. This is
particularly true in the light that you described it as 这车车况还可以.
BTW, the new car was about 10k then (although it was discontinued), so I
assume you bought the car more than 4 yrs ago. It should be normal wear and
tear of those items.

财政方面，主要是想通过贷款买车，去年已经贷款买了一台suv了，刚从学校毕业出来
不久，自己和老婆都在上班（老婆刚上班），每个月进账的总共也都有一万多，但目前
双方父母都过来，都要给很多钱，自己又在申绿卡，开销不小。
如果是trade in的话，你说得对，很有可能连2000快都不到（02年的cavalier,才7万多
miles，应该也差不多能卖个2000吧？），考虑到手上没有多少现金，就只能贷款了，
可感觉贷款的话，也压力太大，没准不久以后还要买房什么的，压力会更大。
看来还是只能就这么去修了。。。

Since you have pretty good cash inflow now, your finance problem may be gone
in half a year. So, ask you the question, do you feel comfortable to drive
your car at its current condition for half a year? If your answer is yes,
you do not need to perform these maintenance other than oil change and chase
lube.
Is your car having a big noise when driving it (which may give you a ticket
or fail you in an upcoming emission test)? If no, do not worry about the
muffler yet.
Is your pads to the bare minimum before your safety concerns? If no, do not
worry about the brake pads yet.
It is always NOT a good investment to *repair (until it is absolutely
necessary)* if you know you will replace it in the near future, say half a
year. In addition, it may be cheaper for a car in Aug/Sep when you decide
to buy a new/newer car then than now.
What I would suggest is let it be and get minimum required usage of the car
and replace it in 6 months when you have some reserves. Even then, you may
want to finance than pay full price upfront to build the rainy day fund.
