One woman was dead and two in the hospital after a head-on collision late
Friday night in northwest Harris County.
Police said a man was driving a Chevrolet Malibu north on Ella near Braymark
around 10:00 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, the driver made a sudden U-
turn in the middle of the road and crossed into oncoming traffic.
Authorities said the Malibu then slammed head-on into a black 1995 Toyota
Camry that was traveling south on Ella. The driver of the Camry, Mary Pena,
and the passenger, Aundre Holmes, were taken to the hospital with life-
threatening injuries. Pena later died.
Police said the passenger of the Malibu, later identified as Sam Carson, was
transported to the hospital in serious condition. The unknown driver of the
Malibu, who caused the accident, fled on foot and got away.
Authorities said Holmes and Carson were still in the hospital as of 5:30 p.m
