Let's take a typical car: BMW 328i
MSRP $40000
Discount: $3000
Rebate: $1000
1). Lease:
Residual for 12k/yr * 36 month: 62%
Money Factor: 0.0012 (equals to 2.88%)
Bank Fee: $725
Monthly payment: $405.08 >> After CA 8% tax: $436.47
(Note: No down payment, everything rolled into monthly payment)
2). Buy:
Purchase Price: $36000
After CA 8% Tax: $38880
Finance Rate: 2.88%
Monthly payment (for 60 month loan): $696.55
Total Payment: $41793.08
3). How you buy and sell?
Let's suppose you spend this much on repairs each year AFTER the 4 yr
warantee period:
Year #5 $1000
Year #6 $2000
Year #7 $2000
Year #8 $2000
Year #9 $2000
Year #10 $2000
Let's assume the following selling price after you own # of years
After year #5 $18000
After year #6 $16000
After year #7 $14000
After year #8 $12000
After year #9 $10000
After year #10 $8000
The this will be the total costs you spend on the car, and the monthly
average:
Total Spent Monthly Average
Amortized Monthly
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------
If selling after year #5 $24793.08 $413.22/month $444.18
If selling after year #6 $28793.08 $399.90/month $435.93
If selling after year #7 $32793.08 $390.39/month $431.53
If selling after year #8 $36793.08 $383.26/month $429.56
If selling after year #9 $40793.08 $377.71/month $429.23
If selling after year #10 $44793.08 $373.28/month $430.05
4). Conclusion:
Lease: $436.47/month
Buy and Sell: $413.22/month to $373.28/month
Note:
1). When buying, you are pre-paying a lot at the very beginning, money has a
time-stamp on it, I haven't considered that.
If considering it, look at the "Amortized Monthly" column - it will be the
number when you spreadout the total cost over of # of years owned.
2). $2000/year on maintenance/repairs are very reasonable.
You can't do a $20 oil change on a BMW, right?
You need to change brakes/batteries from time to time, right?
You need to do 30K/60K/90K services, right?
3). The selling price of $18000 after 5 years, $8000 after 10 years, is
reasonable. You can't expect to sell at top retail price. | d******g 发帖数: 6966 | | G*****m 发帖数: 5395 | 3 关键得看你一年需要开多少
around 10K miles may be perfect for lease
15K, 20K miles, lease
