Kelly said the gang of riders, known for their rallies and daredevil stunts,
planned to congregate in Times Square that day. But he said the gathering
was nixed by the NYPD because of past problems.
Last year, “they drove down Broadway [with] over 1,000 motorcycles, dirt
bikes, quads,” Kelly said. “So there was an intention to do that again
this year, but because of [police] checkpoints and enforcement in the outer
boroughs, they weren’t able to make it.”
In shutting down the Times Square gathering, cops arrested 15 people,
confiscated 55 motorcycles and issued 68 summonses to the bikers. None of
those arrests were connected to the attack on Lien. | j*********n

Charles Clark: I am a motorcycle rider. The fact that most of the
motorcycles in that group had their tags removed or covered, is evidence of
their intent to violate the law. Why should the driver of the SUV have to
stop so they could break the law? All of the bikers involved should be
charged since they were all a part of a criminal act that resulted in these
injuries. The operator of the SUV showed considerable constraint in not
running over even more of those bikers as they were pursuing him and his
family and causing them to fear for their lives. |
