Police are investigating what appears to be a single-vehicle high-speed
crash in Victoria, B.C., that killed the vehicle's front seat passenger
early Sunday morning.
The Victoria Police Department said shortly before 12:30 a.m. PT, witnesses
saw a newer-model white sedan speeding at up to 130 km/h on Blanshard Street
before it hit a light pole at the Bay Street intersection.
"As officers arrived they could see that the vehicle, a newer model white
sedan, had struck a light standard at, what appeared to be, a significant
speed," a written statement from the department said.
The front seat passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Saanich, was already dead
when police and paramedics arrived.
"Officers noted that the driver appeared intoxicated and, along with witness
reports, are investigating alcohol and significant speed as contributing
factors in this collision," the Victoria Police Department said.
The driver, who had non-life threatening injuries, was taken to hospital.
Neither the name of the woman nor the name of the driver, a 24-year-old man
from Saanich, have been released.
The intersection was closed traffic for several hours. | b********6 发帖数: 35437 | |
