Craigslist Scam Alert!
Here is how the deal works.
1. Theives steal a decent used car from a car dealership. This is an inside
job and they know it may take several weeks for the dealer to even miss the
car.
2. They produce a forged title. These titles look so good that they are
passing at the court house.
3. The Crooks place an ad on Craigslist using a burner phone and asking way
less than the real value.
4. Victims purchase the car for cash and transfer the paperwork at the court
house obtaining a new title and plates.
5. Somewhere around this time the dealership realizes the car is missing and
reports it stolen.
6. Dealership will then send me or another Private Investigator to go see
the people and verify that their sullen car is in the new victims'
possession.
7. We verify the location of the stolen car and notify the local police. At
this point the police will advise the victim they have been scammed and will
have to give up the car. This is also when they find out they are out of
their money.
These criminals are good and organized. I for one will probably never buy
another car off Craigslist. |

1.Bolt if you feel any reservation then walk away.
2. Check the value of the car to what they are asking. If it is too good to
be true then it is.
3. Does the name on the title match the name on the driver's license?
4. Is this a new title and owned a short time?
5. If he claims to be a dealer then he had to conduct business at his
dealership.
Go with your gut feeling and don't be afraid to walk away from a deal. |

的车子的照片。你的意思是买车的人最后会有人来为他买单？ 车子被追回了，是
dealer还他的钱还是小偷还他钱？ 如果真是这样那还真不错。欢迎律师朋友来讲解一
下。
再说了，即使买车的人没有任何的经济损失，谁愿意这么折腾一下子啊？所以大家小心

如果以个人面目出现，那么去DMV/Courthouse过户的时候工作人员要看他的ID。这样他
还要再伪造一个驾照？如果以小dealer面目出现，那就不用去DMV，dealer就可以办手
续。估计是以小dealer面目出现的可能性大。
如果这样，可以坚持check或certified check/cashier's check付款。一般dealer应该
不会拒绝。同时要求去dealership办公地点办手续。If he claims to be a dealer
then he had to conduct business at his dealership.
如果是私人面目出现可以要求一起去银行办存钱/转帐手续。 |

这个帖子对他有什么意义。Facebook上有名有姓的，Group里的很多人也都互相认识。
刚去看了发帖人的Facebook具体信息，他是名retired deputy sheriff，现在在做私人
侦探。
信与不信，大家散了吧。 |
