Incident Breach of Players Code of Conduct – Clause 4.5 and 4.16 in match
WD723 of the Women’s Doubles match – Court 2.
Players WANG Xiaoli and YU Yang (CHN)

Overview
Following the conclusion of match WD723, Women’s Doubles on Court 2 between
JUNG KE / KIM Ha Na (KOR) and WANG XIAOLI / YU YANG (CHN), written
statements were
submitted from the Umpire, Service Judge and Referee describing the conduct
of the
players on court and the actions taken by the officiating team.
The BWF Disciplinary Committee was constituted and met late on 31 July 2012
to
consider if there was sufficient evidence to conduct a hearing to consider
alleged breaches of the Players Code of Conduct – Clause 4.5 and Clause 4.

The Disciplinary Committee considered the reports submitted and the video
material of match play and determined that there was sufficient evidence to
constitute a Hearing Panel.
The Hearing Panel took place on 1 August 2012 and was attended by the
players, and
interpreter, the coach.
Disciplinary Committee Decision
The BWF Disciplinary Committee under the BWF’s Code of Conduct found that
the WANG XIAOLI / YU YANG (CHN) had breached Clause 4.5 and Clause 4.16 of
the players Code of Conduct.
The Committee ruled that the players:
o shall be disqualified from the Badminton Competition of the London Olympic
Games.
Appeal
Players, through their Member Association, have the right of appeal to the
BWF Appeals
Committee.
Due to the urgency of this matter, any such appeal must be submitted to the
Secretary
General by 1300 UK time.
