Again, no poll. So my predictions.
Yankees swept the Twins and have ample rest for their aging roster.
Rangers had to go through five games to win the first ever playoff
series in its history. Momentum wise, I have to say that Rangers
have the edge. But Yankees is a well-lubricated postseason machine.
We all know how pressure can get to us sometimes. Under the microscope
of baseball playoffs, I can imagine that stress will only be
magnified.
To me, playoff baseball is all about pitching. Rays pitched poorly.
That was how they lost. Because of the sweep, Yankees have their
rotations set, and CC can pitch 3 games of the 7 game series if needed.
That will be a plus. On the contrary, Cliff Lee may only get one
chance to pitch. Advantage: Yankees.
Offensive side, these two teams both feature high-scoring offense.
I think runs will be scored. Yankees handle pressure better, needless
to say. But Rangers may have better speed. Slight advantage Yankees.
Defense is probably where Rangers are a bit better. Neither team is
great in this area. So this might not matter.
Many predicted a Rangers upset. I do not see it happening. I think
Yankees will win in 5. This pennant will be easy. | n*******e 发帖数: 2213 | 2 In the NL side, this matchup could be talked about for years
to come. I cannot think of another CS/WS series that features
these many top of the rotation pitchers. If we think Halladay/
Oswalt/Hamels trio is good, for the month of September and
the postseason, the Giants trio (Lincecum/Cain/Sanchez) was
actually BETTER. They were the reason why Giants can overcome
a 7-game deficit and eventually won NLW. Not only this, the Giants
trio had a combined sub 2 ERA in season series against Phillies.
They also have a game-4 starter who is a lefty. With the left-
handed hitters that Phillies have, this is an advantage.
Starting pitching, advantage Giants.
Bullpen the same thing. Giants bullpen ERA ranks 2nd in NL, while
Phillies ranks 9th. Advantage: Giants.
Hitting wise, Giants hitters have powers. Uribe, Burrell,
Guillen, Sandoval, Ross... they all can hit homeruns. Posey is
one of a kind hitter. But Phillies also have good hitting,
which used to carry them in years past. THis year, Phillies have
been very inconsistent. Hopefully they can get into a groove.
Slight advantage Phillies.
Both teams have good defense. This is pretty even.
I feel like this could be a long series mostly due to dominating
pitching. I see a game 7, with Sanchez against Hamels. I like
Hamels a bit more in big pressure situation. But hey, Sanchez
clinched the playoff berth for the Giants, so who knows!

durable, consistent year after year. But I have a very hard
time convincing myself that he is a one-a-generation type of
pitcher. In this Yankees rotation, I definitely like Andy
Pettitte more.
