There may be no love lost between Golden State and Cleveland, but LeBron
James thinks the teams can agree on one thing: not visiting the White House
anytime soon.
“I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants to get invited anyway,
” James said at a news conference Tuesday. “It won’t be Golden State or
Cleveland going.”
Stephen Curry, after he was relayed James’ thoughts, said, “I agree with
Bron.”
James’ remarks came after a question about President Trump’s decision to
cancel the Eagles’ White House visit. Only a small group of players
reportedly were planning on making the trip, and most of the team’s black
players were electing to decline the invitation.

James stood up for their choices.
“We have a lot of freedom in our country,” he said ahead of Game 3 of the
NBA Finals on Wednesday. “Guys … have the right to do what they wanna do,
in a very respectful manner. And I think if they decided they don’t wanna
go, then they have the right.”

James has expressed his disdain for the Trump White House before, as he
criticized the president for withdrawing the Warriors’ invite in September.
Referring to Trump, he wrote: “U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t
going! “So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great
honor until you showed up!”
James has averaged 39.5 points through two games of the Finals, but the
Cavaliers trail the Warriors 2-0 entering Wednesday night’s Game 3 in
Cleveland. |
