美国人爱打官司，美国人更爱看打官司，一些大案也就成了举国上下
人人关注的新闻事件，被称为“世纪审判”，比如去年的弹劾克林顿案、
几年前的OJ辛普森谋杀案，以及更早一点的毒打罗德尼·金案，都被媒
体冠以这个称呼。去年有一家电视台评选二十世纪的最大案件，OJ辛普
森案当选。但是这些案件是否能经得起历史的考验，再过几十年是否还会
有人谈起，是很值得怀疑的。倒是1925年发生在田纳西州代顿（Dayton）
镇的“猴子审判”（因为进化论往往被一般人误传为“人是从猴子进化来
的”，故名），75年来仍时时被提起，十天前美国各主要媒体还纷纷发表
评论纪念它发生75周年。它是名副其实的世纪审判。有三个传奇式的人物
参与其中：美国历史上最著名的大律师、无神论者克伦斯·达娄（Clarence
Darrow）担任被告律师，“原教旨主义的教皇”、著名的政治家威廉·布
