carefully and gently restrained by grasping a large fold of loose skin over

with the other hand (see figure 1). Failing to support or hold onto the rear
feet may result in the animal kicking and thrashing trying to escape which
can cause severe spinal injury or a broken back. The easiest method of
transporting laboratory rabbits from one place to another is to hold the
animal against your side with its head in the crock of your arm under your
armpit (see figure 2). In this way the rabbit remains quiet and can be
