deletion... it never worked for me, we got a lot of mutants and we
never figured out what happened... I did a lot of genomic southern
at the time trying to figure out.
we eventually used EMS, if this mutation is easy to score, do that.
you can get it in a summer (with the help of some undergraduates).
only problem is how do you prove it is a NULL...
