The Shiloh lab at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has
just opened and is seeking to hire a Research Technician I/II or Research
Assistant, depending on the level of education and experience of the
applicant. The lab is interested in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium
tuberculosis and its ability to establish a persistent infection.
Specifically, we are interested in understanding how mycobacteria are able
to adapt to the host environment by resisting host antimicrobial mechanisms,
and also by altering their metabolism. The ideal candidate should be hard-
working, detail-oriented, and willing to work with Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. Experience with techniques including cloning, protein
expression/purification, biochemistry, RNA extraction and microarrays is
preferred.
