downgrade the case to a misdemeanor which affects basically nothing
including GC and jobs.

but as to ppl without GC, this will be a disaster-- misdemeanor related to
moral turpitude is a direct denial factor in GC application.
that means, someone with 1 count of misdeneanor because of 110 mile speeding
will be safe in GC application, but something like Yao's issue will be
doomed

Couldn't find any follow up news about the case. It's very likely that he
escaped with a good lawyer.
People in this country are very tolerant and tend to give second chance.
Look at Michael Vick, he was convicted and jailed！ then came back and
suddenly becomes role model :)
maybe China is changing too :D

on what kind of misdemeanor is agreed in the final deal.

么美国很多地方现在要求标记有性犯罪纪录的人，让他的邻居提高警惕。
这个人回国去大学教书，看来很快就是叫兽的一员了。
