University of Maryland, Baltimore
The Institute for Genome Sciences is seeking a new faculty member at
the Assistant/Associate/ Professor level in the area of human genomics/
bioinformatics.
The Institute currently has 23 highly collaborative faculty working on
the human microbiome, human genome sequencing, genetic variation,
cancer genomics, host/pathogen interactions, and other areas of
interest related to modern genomics and bioinformatics
(www.igs.umaryland.edu). The Institute has made significant
investments in both genome sequencing (ABI/Sanger, 454, Illumina
HiSeq, and PacBio) and bioinformatics cores (including an extensive
computational grid) that are available to all faculty.
We seek a highly motivated individual with expertise in the area of
human genomics, particularly in areas such as population-based re-
sequencing as it relates to human health, personalized medicine/
predictive health, cancer genomics, and systems biology.
The Institute for Genome Sciences is located on the University of
Maryland, Baltimore campus, just minutes from the Inner Harbor,
restaurants, sports stadiums, and cultural events and is just 45
minutes from Washington D.C. The Baltimore/Washington area offers
many scientific collaborative opportunities, with Johns Hopkins
University, the National Institutes of Health, the FDA, and many
biotechnology companies in the region. Interested candidates should

strong record of achievement including outstanding publications and
independent funding (e.g., a K-award at the Assistant level or a more
