With his shining publication list, he could not get funding from NSF for
years. He had to move to Germany. Now his work is ignored and trashed, he
must be mad.

OK: they managed to survive already. However, their contributions to the
scientific community and the advancement of understanding the nature should
be respected, that is the bottom-line.
