herein. I am doing this because many of them have caused concerns, because a
few people took them literarily.
Here I want to declare clearly that my posts were nothing but stories or at
best, exaggerated or twisted real life events. They were simply used to
attract attention from this audience. Anecdotes were simply used to spice up
the stories and they did not happen in the context of similar situations in
real life. In addition, stories like “The dusk of a thousand-year postdoc
” and “A missing postdoc”, etc., are completely mini-novels, based on
little facts but my imagination.
The “ex-mentor” and many other characters appeared in my posts, including
the character posing as my alter ego, or myself, are at best mixtures of
imagination and real life examples. For instance, I once mentioned that I
was poor, old and ugly (because of doing research). That is quite contrary
to my self-image. Please do not take things literarily. Finally I would like
to apologize to some of the readers who believed that my stories were true,
because those stories may echo with their really life experience. However,
I am glad most readers here have discerning eyes to tell stories from real
