d*****n 发帖数: 433 | 1 The 2013 Gordon Research Conference on OXIDATIVE STRESS AND DISEASE that
expands on the theme The Metabolic – Inflammatory Axis in Brain Aging and
Alzheimer’s Disease will be held April 14-19th, 2013 at the Les Diablerets
Conference Center, Les Diablerets, Switzerland.
The conference is designed from an interdisciplinary perspective to provide
discovery, translational, and clinical scientists with the latest findings
on bioenergetic deficits and activation of inflammatory responses, their
redox (oxidative stress) regulation, and their role in synaptic plasticity
and cognition in brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Dynamic interactions
among these systems are examined in terms of their causative or in-tandem
occurrence and whether they occur in micro-environments that ultimately lead
to global changes in brain, i.e., how does the systemic environment, e.g.,
insulin resistance, diabetes, and inflammation impacts on brain function.
In addition, a Pre-Conference Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) will be
organized by junior investigators at the post-doctoral level. The GRS will
be held before the start of the GRC (April 13th-14, 2013); the GRS is
oriented towards junior investigators to provide them with solid background
information on common mechanisms involved in brain aging and
neurodegeneration in order to maximize the understanding of the science that
will be discussed in the subsequent GRC. The GRS provides a great
opportunity for students/post docs to present their research to their peers
in a supportive, non-intimidating environment, and the opportunity for their
abstract to be chosen for an oral presentation. This is also to inform you
that the speaker abstract submission deadline for the GRS has been extended
to February 7th, so if you are interested in presenting at the GRS please
make sure to submit your abstract by then.
We fully anticipate that the scientific discussions, research talks, poster
sessions and other close interactions among the participants of the GRC and
the GRS will significantly advance their understanding of the mechanisms
inherent in Alzheimer’s disease and set the foundations for collaborative
investigations aimed at promoting new therapeutic or preventive disease
interventions and recognizing the diversity of target populations for these
interventions. Detailed information including the program of the meetings
and applications are available at http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2013&program=oxidat for the GRC andhttp://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2013&program=grs_oxidat for the GRS.
