graduate school classmates and friends who were in biology especially
biochemistry and molecular biology. They are doing these jobs:
2 PIs + companies
8 PIs academic only
3 PIs in not only one institutes
4 Founders of companies
7 Scientists in biotech or pharm companies
5 Technical assistant or associate in labs/companies
2 Medical doctors
1 Medical assistant
1 Nurse
4 Computer programmer
2 IP office or lawyers
3 Teaching in high school or small local college
2 Housewife
2 Wall street
5 MBA in other fields
1 Venture investor
...
As far as I know, the salary range from 2m+bouns+something I have no idea to
0.
I almost went law school after I got my PhD but I could not suffer take huge
amount of loan + my responsibility for my family. So I stayed in science.
But, when my experiment worked, I felt great and thought about nothing;
when it did not work, I felt I may be on wrong career. This feeling never
stopped. I am not lucky one but I walk solid on each of my step although
having made many mistakes. So I am on my way to what my route is leading me.
All I want to say is that each one has his/her own situation. Some
situations are flexible and some are not. Copy others route does not equal
to get other's success. Do not be too ambitious and lose your own ground.
