Report to: Head of in vitro Biology
Description:
Looking for a highly experienced and motivated Scientist with a strong
cellular and molecular pharmacology background to lead the In Vitro
Pharmacology group.
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in the company
including building up an internal team, leading projects in a
multidisciplinary team, as well as efficiently interacting with clients to
drive project success.
The candidate will play a key role in the selection of lead compounds by
designing and implementing cell-based assays across multiple disease areas
including oncology, CNS, and inflammation.
Will perform mechanism-of-action studies and investigate molecular signaling
pathways downstream of drug-target interaction using a variety of in vitro/
ex vivo techniques and is expected to manage multiple projects.
The candidate is expected to develop deep understanding of target and
disease biology and will have significant input into target evaluation,
assay selection, and lead identification. Willingness to certain amount of
hands on work is required to ensure highest quality of research activity
moving forward.
Will work closely with the Chemistry and ADME/PK Departments to identify the
best drug candidates.
Qualifications:
• PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology or related areas
• 8-12 years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
with expertise in in vitro pharmacology
• Strong expertise in a variety of functional assays and how the
assays support in vivo pharmacology and preclinical development
• Successful track record in identifying hits/leads that lead to drug
candidates in functional and biochemical assays
• Solid understanding of oncology, CNS disorders, and immune diseases
• Broad knowledge of assay technology and assays types a must
• In depth knowledge of GPCR, NHR, ion channel biology a must
• Knowledge of instrumentation, equipment automation, and HTS highly
desirable
• Experience in managing projects and people, including PhD scientists
• Willing to take initiative in finding creative solutions for complex
problems
• Analytical, organized, efficient, detail-oriented and goal-driven
• Independent yet enjoys collaborative problem-solving
• Excellent communication, documentation and time management skills
required
• Desire to take on challenges and grow professionally in a fast-paced
, dynamic multidisciplinary environment
• Proven ability to direct large research teams, including providing
sound scientific direction, leading scientific discourse, and motivating
