I treated groups of transgenic mice with a few chemicals for inhibiting
cancer but noticed one chemical may reduce the activity of insulin. A
direct consequence should be higher blood glucose level/increased insulin.
But the experiment has been completed and there is not much chance to
convince my boss to repeat an experiment for measure blood glucose level. I
am not in the metabolism field but found that most works in the
publications measure the glucose after overnight fasting or at least using
fresh blood drops. Can I use the frozen serum (collected for measure
cytokines) to measure blood glucose levels?

发帖数: 600 | 2 should be ok in theory. But I have never tried frozen serum. Just buy a
glucose meter from pharmacy. It works fine in our hands for mice serum. |

一只老鼠可以给药前后测，还可以隔几分钟、几小时、天天测，statistic power大大
好于你去冰箱里面捞血清。
找个你们楼做糖尿病的实验室去聊聊。
血清也不是不行，但是糖尿病血糖仪有校准，你拿它测血清和拿它测全血不能直接比。 |

明显的话肯定没问题，如果你要fasting，记得换新笼子，因为老鼠吃粑粑 |

但是如果你当时sac 老鼠的时候没有fast， 那么需要很大的N per group 才能检测到
overall的区别
老鼠隔三差五就会去啃一口mouse chow， 所以blood glucose 变化会比较大 除非你的
药像streptozotocin这种强效。 |

machine for measuring glucose level in serum. |

应该是因为血里面大概一半的体积是血细胞。

血的时间也不定时
不过我是做的leukemia mice， 跟control进行比较，如果要测很准的血糖还是要小心
