I have once thought about becoming a professional
bridge player, cause we all know that bridge
is a great game and I love this game. However, becoming
a pro isn't a good idea. One major problem is
that bridge players have never achieved true financial
independence. Not like Poker, bridge players can never
make a respectful living from cash games or big money tournaments.
Thus, professionals have to relie on sponsors who would
recuite them as teammates or partners. That means for | c****n 发帖数: 21367 | 2 it is hard to forbid undertable conventions etc...
i have a question, does poker players really own such huge
stake of money? say, $xxM? I often see such amount in the TV
broadcast games.
or they simply pay the entry fee like $10k, and 10000 players
accumulated to the final tale results in $xxM?

sure you can play $$$ bridge, but how many bridge players
would play with you? people who like to gamble often
prefer more straightfoward methods, such as poker.
for tournament award, it's a matter of how many people like bridge.
if there are many, and they play/watch tournaments, i'm sure
the reward will be high.

The difference between poker and bridge is not much in
term of randomness.
In fact, I would say Poker, from some perspective, is
more random a game than
bridge. For one thing, unlike playing bridge,
you don't have cards, you can't win in Poker.
The difficulty to promote bridge to the degree of
popularity and thus profitability that poker currently
enjoy, is the asymmetric information problem.
One always know better about one's partner than one's
opponents do. this is the main barrier toward
