Googled and found out not all bids are well defined.
it's common agreement that
(1) opener's rebid of responder's major suit shows 3-card support
(2) opener's rebid of the other major shows a 4-card suit
(3) opener's rebid of his minor suit shows 5+ cards
how about the other bids?
e.g. 1D - 1H - 1NT - 2C - ?
what do 2S, 2NT, 3C, 3S mean here?
Some suggests that openner uses these bids to show stoppers, so the
partnership can reach the most likely game 3NT. Some | w****b

the two way checkback. Some call this XYZ.
It is very simple and easy to remember: after 1X-1Y-1NT, all invitational
sequences go through 2C, and 2D starts game forcing sequence. By doing this,
you only sacrifice the signoff of 2C after partner opens 1C, but gain much
more than this.
1X-1Y-1N, 2C forces a relay to 2D. Responder can pass the 2D, or if he bids
anything, that would be an invitation. This means you can play

发帖数: 2804 | 4 Technically speaking, XYZ (or a reduced version, often called 2-way
checkback, applicable after sequence 1X-1Y-1NT) is superior. However, there
is still value to learn the regular new minor forcing convention, since
sometimes you just have to play it with a pickup partner, as often is the
case on BBO. So the answers to the original questions are:
2S shows minimum hand with 4 spades (should deny 3 hearts)
2NT shows minimum hand with less than 3 H, less than 4 S
3C shows minimum hand with 5 clubs |
