For the courses you need to take in Ph.D MIS, you'd better go to some schools'
web site and check it out.
I think most of students graduating from MIS ph.D top schools will go to
Academia.
Currently the MIS faculty job market is good, but not sure after 4 or 5 years.
For the programming,most ph.D students in MIS will be required to teach
courses for undergraduate students starting form the second year in ph.D
