Nothing wrong with the money. I got sucked in my current major because
of the money prospect. Hehe. Anyways, here's a good reading for you to
understand what Finance is about.
比较国内和国外对经济学科内的领域设置，需要特别澄清什么是金融学的问题。我发现国
内和国外对金融学（finance）这一领域的理解有很大的不同。一个国内学生说他是学金
融的，到了国外会发现他学的在那里不被称为金融。相反，在国外是学的金融，在国内又
可能不叫金融。为什么会这样呢？这需要仔细地分析。
首先，国内所说的金融是指两部分内容。第一部分指的是货币银行学（money and
banking）。它在计划经济时期就有，是当时的金融学的主要内容。人民银行说我们是搞
金融的，意思是搞货币银行。第二部分指的是国际金融（international finance），研
究的是国际收支、汇率等问题。改革开放后，凡是以“国际”打头的专业招生 | j*****t

MBA或MS Finance就足够了。拿了数学物理博士的主要就在Wall Street各大投资
银行做modeling，就是整天跟数字打交道。本科或MBA攻Finance的人一般做
investment banking, sales & trading，能说会道，做得一手漂亮的PowerPoint
更重要，当然也能用Excel做些简单的计算。说实话，博士们如果不找教职的话都
做些啥我还真搞不太清楚。

from the late of 50's, a must read in the area. Also you can go to the official
Nobel Prize website and read the biography by two M's, Merton and some others.
Several guru got Nobel Prize after 80's for their finance work. | q**i

The theoritical side of finance is mostly interested in behavior (both
market and individual participants) and pricing. They tend to study,
for example, how a security's prices fluctuate over time, or what
determines its prices. In essence, it is a very specialized field
of micro-economics.
