本人28岁，国内top 5 BE; 美国化学排名学校50-100 MS, 有机，现在麻省一超小药物
中间体公司做研发，$45,000. H1B （Oct. 2007- ）
我的职业目标是Management。
毕业后去年申请了一些学校，MSU 给了一个offer.
去的理由：1. 毕业后起点较高，如果再去名组读一个postdoc，以后进大公司方便，有
较大机会读top MBA或者做management，like project managemnt etc.
2. phd 可以培养一些人的素质，象严谨，仔细，专注，努力等等，这是受益一生的素
质。
不去的理由：1。学校不够strong；2。花时间长，机会成本低。3。不确定因素象跟老
板相处，资格考试等均是未知数。
如果呆在当前公司，1.可以申请绿卡，可以保我的工作签证；2..由于公司小，平时做
的事情杂一些，可以学学其他的公司操作；
不呆：1。薪水不ok; 2. 无英语平台；3.对简历并没有很大的帮助
我现在能想到的达到我的职业目标management的除了 a.. 上phd进大公司外；还有：
b.不申请绿卡，继 |

really help. OK, it is a waste of your time.
I actually thought you are in a good spot: you are in an interesting
industry, and I assume that you are taking on some non-technical
responsibilities. If you start now, you stand a good chance for fall
submission.
as to the soft skills, they really determine if you will be successful in a
managerial career. |

now and I dont have GC. BTW: I did not take GMAT yet. That is why I dont
know how I should go????

depending on how your brain is wired, gmat can be much easier for you. it
took gmat because i did poorly (embarrassingly poorly) in gre.
I don't know gc has anything to do with your decision.
but definitely having the right soft skills will separate you apart and will
determine if you are successful or not.

我听说MBA学位出来之后的工作是很难申请绿卡的，有这会儿事吗？这就是为什么我总
想着要拿到绿卡才能读MBA的原因。是这样子的吗？

发帖数: 100 | 8 谢谢pikapika的鼓励！主要是我现在处在一个比较尴尬的位置，拿着可怜的工资，做着
不喜欢的工作，所以才强烈想改变当前的情况，就算是会去读书。甚至回国，回国放弃
H1B，但可以积累点marketing或者类似的经验再回来读MBA曲线救国，但回去不确定性
挺大的。
但也就想想。你说回国是好策略吗？

发帖数: 4 | 11 说句实话，这件事情真的还是要自己想清楚。每个人背景不同，对于你的情况得出的结
论，给出的建议也不同，但基本可以说，都和你的情况不能完全相同。
其实感觉你应该静下来想想，你读书或者不读书的区别到底多大，每个选择可能的结果
的可能性多大。。。
其实没什么最优解，只要你能不后悔就好了~

发帖数: 100 | 12 谢谢jazzcat 和 raininsea 的意见，感觉这个鸡肋工作挺尴尬的，不上不下，最近还
真挺像回国的，也没有很多理由，只是来自于本能的兴趣，觉得回国可以做与人打交道
的工作，只觉得自己性格和做marketing的比较吻合，喜欢和不同的人打交道，跟不同
的人都都聊得来，但科学就不专业，面世过很多公司，就没有一个录取，有时候为自己
可以network到这么多地 on-site interview opportunity而感到自豪，感觉是一种会
network的表现；有时候也为自己这么多的面试都买又拿到offer而感到自卑，感觉真是
专业知识不到家。
读书走正道其实也挺好，总是期盼着突然自己某一天对科研产生浓厚的兴趣了，那就不
会有这么多问题了，但兴趣从哪来，出自于本能还是出自于你自己个人的历史或者是在
一个无可选择的情况下被逼出来的？ |

可以和童年经历、家庭背景、授课老师有关，也可能是受了旁人的刺激
，很难准确评估。

发帖数: 100 | 14 I had used my OPT before my H1B. So when I graduated from MBA program, do I
still have another OPT to look for jobs?
And based on my background (I worked from Oct. 2006 till now), do you guys
think that I am quarlified to apply for top 10 MBA school for 2009 fall or
even top 20? I did not take GMAT yet. |

发帖数: 3693 | 15 You won't have another OPT, but you should be exempt from the H1B quota
since you were a previous H1B holder, that is, unless you're holding a cap-
exempt (non profit) H1B.
No one can tell you your chances of getting into top MBA programs, because
so many factors are in play, your GMAT score being one of them. Two years of
experience is better than none, but not a big help since you'll be
competing with people with plenty of that. Other things you need to consider
are: Can you write good essays |
