Who gives a damn to econ? In business school, econ professors only teach
fundamental courses and make way less than accounting, finance or marketing
professors.
Big 4 exp. is definitely helpful when you apply for accounting PHD. Many
accounting professors used to work for Big 4 in their early careers. They

成长也非常快,至少我以前觉得如果你在里面做地越久,那么你和会计类专业出身的学
生在申请上的差距也就越小。至于,楼上一个朋友问有什么优势。我自己的想法是:你
都独立做了三四个IPO上市了,难道你将来在研究此类问题的时候会比不上一个什么都
不懂的经济小硕?
但问题是,我不知道会计是不是一个研究和应用脱离的学科?所以我又觉得那个朋友讲
地也有道理。因为我自己是学MIS的,我知道MIS的研究和应用完全是两回事。你在SAP
工作十年,对MIS的研究可以说几乎没什么帮助,甚至比不上一个读社会学的小本。 |

in business schools.
These econ lecturers/professors only teach the basic stuff for first year of
undergraduate or MBA. They don't teach anything advanced.
In business schools, people have accounting major, finance major,
information major and marketing major, etc. There are no Economic major or
dept. because no business student will be that stupid to choose Economic as

one cannot learn enough econometrics stuff from a econ master program

如果招中国人
一般现在都喜欢有工作经验的,MBA,或者怎么着也在big 4里面滚了几年的吧
口语要好
所谓的经济学数学那都在其次 |

他学校读过书,还有工作过的。美国Top的Accounting PhD Program其实很少见有直接
从国内招过来的。有几个也是清北硕士毕业而且得到很好的推荐信的。国内的Big Four
工作经验,说实话,对申请好学校没什么用。如果是美国的Big Four当然不一样了,会
很有帮助。差一些的Program,也许会有帮助吧。 |

1. Experience in big4 is NOT required at all for top accounting program. Of
coz you can always argue it's better than none. For me, I had GS experience,
but who cares!
2. I'd say, econ background is more favorable by admission committee. That's
true coz for Ph.D. program, it's research oriented. Economics build up your
analytical skills and maths. In that regard, people with several years in
industry lack the advantage of maths, as proved by many of my peer who are
having great trouble s |
