第一年的Marketing Phd 不知道是应该Consumer Behavior 还是 Quant Modeling
自己以前是工程的背景 所以做quant modeling应该问题不大 quant modeling大部分的
work是emprical的 我以前做过统计信号处理 Consumer Behavior我没有任何的心理
学背景 所以打算第一年多修一些课程 但是和phd director聊天 他说还是要确定一个
方向 我不知道将来即使做quant 修一些心理学的课程会不会有帮助 比如可以促进交叉
学科研究 或者做到更大scope的research
朋友们有什么建议么 |

他们把你当做quant还是cb的招进去的？
进去了读个半年换方向的大有人在，但以undetermined身份进去的从来没听说过啊
况且还是cb大牛校

发帖数: 16 | 4 CB没有心理学背景也没关系，很快能上手，很多印度大牛都是Engineering背景
所以无论CB还是modeling对于你都没有什么门槛，主要还是看兴趣，没兴趣没激情，即
便容易上手也做不出东西。建议从paper入手，多看几篇找感觉，本领域就这么几本，
Journal of Consumer Research,Marketing Science,Journal of Marketing Research
，Journal of Marketing
个人觉得通过上课（心理学之类的）找方向太慢，外系的课大多是tool，本系的
seminar的课要好好上，加深领悟paper，对各个research stream能有个了解，慢慢就
能有方向了

. But if not, only following the advisor's will be a torture for the student
, not mentioned that some times advior's idea is not mature enough and
changes over time. Actually from what I know, it is not very hard for people
who get admitted to reputable business phd program to find a job outside,
with roughly 100K salary. What is the point of doing research in something
he or she actually has no passion on? If the only justification is to
get 150K-200K salary after graduate, I don't think it is worthy for 5 years
or even longer suffering

, especially if he/she is known for what they do. Then pick a related
construct to study but dont work on the same thing. At least true in
behavioral fields.
