assistantship (RA) for qualified students who will pursue a Ph.D. degree of
Computational Science http://www.csrc.sdsu.edu/csrc/programs/phd.php at the S
an Diego State University (SDSU) in Fall 2014 semester. This is a joint Ph.D
. program between SDSU and the Claremont Graduate University (CGU). The goal
of the project is to develop a novel flash disk storage architecture to
incorporate flash memory based Solid State Disks (SSDs) into enterprise-
class storage systems http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~taoxie/research.html. The research assistantships will start in the Fall 2014 semester.

1. A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Software Engineering, or closely related areas; 2. A solid background in
operating systems (Linux/Unix) and computer architecture; 3. Strong
programming skills in C/C++; 4. TOEFL score is 80 and above; 5. GRE (general
) score should be more than 1,100.
2. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

can be transferred from other countries if they are Graduate level courses;
- Students need to take 6 courses at CGU and need to drive to CGU once every
week for two semesters. CGU is located in Los Angeles, which is about 2-
hour driving from San Diego;
- Your diploma will be stamped by both SDSU and CGU. Although your degree
will be Computational Science, your research is computer science and your
publication will be in computer science too;
- Your tuition will be paid by SDSU and I will pay you stipend from my
research funding if you are selected.
The application deadline is 15 Feb. 2014. This program only accepts Ph.D.
students in Fall semesters. Preference will be given to students with a
