it doesn't matter. You can see bad papers which shouldn't
be admitted in both conferences and journals. In the end,
it's the authors who are ultimately responsible for
what they are doing, and the kind of good/bad payoff
they gain from the work.
If your work can be related to the kind of thing
a company is researching, sure it's useful.

for industry, it really doesn't matter, what matters is your topic

How many CS people read Transactions?
You are right in that ToN is more respected than INFOCOM.
However, a paper published in ToN only (not with a conference version)
is easier to be forgotten than an INFOCOM paper.

do you read ACM Trans of HCI (TOCHI) besides
UIST, SIGCHI?
I read all of them, to be honest. every article from TOCHI
If you are in the field of Virtual Environment,
do you read Presence (a famous journal) besides
VIST, ACM CVE etc?
I read all of them, every article from Presence.
If you are in the field of Networking,
do you read ToN, selected area in networking journals, besides
SIGCOMM, infocom?
I read all of them, to be honest.
