比fresh Phd高？要高多少？是不是期望值随posdoc的长短成比例？
我倒是期望cs也象bio一样做posdoc成了传统，给非top学校的年轻人多点机会 |

you will get more publication, have more opportunities to practice writing
proposals.
it is like a jump-start for faculty job.
before you even enter the job, you are already ahead of your peer.

just don't want they think i am old with a posdoc if i am actually young

is certainly not a waste of time because you will have experience trying other
direction of research.
for a 5 year ph.d, you might have already published significant number of
papers so maybe postdoc is not necessary.
which one is better, I would say the first one because graduating in 3 years
is not easy.

I think this is better.
they perfer the combination of quick learner, deep thinker, and
paper/funding machine.
3 yrs-phd at least mean quick learner.
