RALEIGH, N.C. — A state Department of Revenue spokesman said Thursday that
income tax refunds – along with interest – have been sent to all North
Carolinians who filed their 2009 returns on time.
Spokesman Thomas Beam said the state paid nearly $1.3 million in interest
on refunds that weren't sent by a May 31 deadline. State law stipulates
that after that date, North Carolina must pay 5 percent interest on
unissued refunds.
