发帖数: 4663 | 2 芬特！ICE enforces 400 federal statutes including cyber crimes/crimes against children, financial crimes, gangs, human trafficking. 这不就是一个小监狱么？而且就在原来croger那个地方，那个食品店的房子，犯人立马就跑出来了。
住附近的赶紧组织听证会上抗议去啊。有没有组织已经开始行动了?（就像当年davisandhighhouse.org干掉市长那出）如果有，坚决支持！

周好像有个会议。估计最近会有组织号召55附近居民给州/联邦议员写信之类的。

靠自觉。

I would like to express my opposition to the proposed use of a vacant Kroger
store located near the corner of NC Highway 55 and High House Road in Cary,
NC as a Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing center I feel
that the proposed location of this processing center is completely
inconsistent with the current retail and residential nature of the area.
This is especially true for an organization which, according to www.ice.gov,
“focuses its limited resources on those who have been arrested for
breaking criminal laws.”
The General Services Administration’s (GSA) requirements request that a
proposed ICE facility not be located adjacent to, in close proximity, and/or
within residential areas, educational facilities or religious facilities.
In the instance of the proposed Cary, NC office, a neighborhood lies less
than fifty feet from the building and multiple school bus stops are within
100 yards. Within a half‐mile radius of the proposed facility are three
daycares. Furthermore, two elementary schools are within a mile of the
proposed facility.Therefore, the choice of this facility would violate the
GSA’s own guidelines for site election.
It is a well‐documented fact that ICE processing centers contain holding
cells to detain illegal aliens and the developer, Acquest Development of
Williamsville, NY, has confirmed that would also be the case at this
proposed ICE facility in Cary. The loading dock where detainees would be
brought in handcuffed and shackled is less than fifty feet from children’s
play sets in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Our opinion is that this poses a
significant danger to our children and negatively impacts our quality of
life. A facility such as this belongs in an office/industrial area.
Operating a facility at this location that involves the temporary holding of
criminals in ICE custody is not appropriate in a residential neighborhood.
It will decrease the safety of our neighborhoods and permanently change the
way of life of thousands of parents and children who live and work in this
area.
No longer will we feel safe walking to the local donut shop or to rent a
movie. This also violates Section 1.3 of the Town of Cary Comprehensive Plan
which includes:
1.3.1 Preserve the character and quality of residential neighborhoods;
1.3.2 Foster convenient, compatible, and efficient relationships among land
uses.
The Cary Town Council has also unanimously passed a resolution which opposes
the placement of this facility in this location. I urge you to please do
anything within your power to help us stop this facility from becoming a
reality and to find a more suitable location for an ICE processing center.
We need your help now as a decision on this facility will occur within two
weeks.

发帖数: 4663 | 29 几年前的事情了，当时一个builder想在我们附近建低档住宅和出租区，结果被我们附
近几个小区居民赶跑。后来影响比较大，换届时还把倾向于builder的市长也端掉了。
当时版上住在附近的几个老ID都因此共同战斗过。
我当时还写了帖子，觉得通过积极参与，上了民主一课，很开心。

GSA Regional Administrator announces decision to cancel procurement for ICE
Office Space in Cary, NC
Atlanta, Georgia – On July 12, 2011 Southeast Sunbelt Region Regional
Administrator, Shyam Reddy, announced the Agencys decision to terminate the
current solicitation for office space in Cary, NC on behalf of U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security. GSA
decided to terminate this lease action because none of the submitted
proposals met the requirements set forth in GSA’s initial Solicitation For
Offers. GSA reached this decision after a comprehensive review of the
clients needs and the offers submitted in response to GSAs Solicitation For
Offers.
Although the current solicitation for space is being terminated, Mr. Reddy
stated that "It is our intention to initiate a new Solicitation For Offers
in the hope that suitable properties will be submitted for consideration
that meet the requirements established by GSA and ICE. GSA is committed to
working hand in hand with ICE and the local community to make sure that ICE
can consolidate its 3 locations in the Raleigh/Cary area into one location
in the Greater RTP Area."
In announcing GSAs decision, Mr. Reddy stated "We are aware of the
communitys interest in the location of the new ICE facility and want to work
with the local community to make sure ICE is located in an area that will
help it accomplish its mission and benefit the local community. Its
important to GSA that we be as accessible and collaborative as possible
during the procurement process because we truly want to make government work
better for the American people. We look forward to having that conversation
with the community in the beginning, during and at the end of the lease
procurement process. "
GSA expects to publish a new solicitation for offers in the next few weeks.
