Play, so I decided to transfer four Boost Mobile numbers to Cricket Wireless.
The prices are the same for both network. Both are 4 lines for $100 and I
dont feel that the 3Mbps from Cricket Wireless may be too slow for me.
I first called Boost Mobile by calling 611 but the stupid software on phone
made it go to its app and not calling to its call center. I had to Google
the 1-866 number online. I then waited like 25 minutes to finally get a
chance to speak to a real person and this person is not allowed to give me
my Boost Mobile account number. I waited another 8 minutes and another Boost
Mobile employee picked up my call. She asked me why I needed my Boost
Mobile account number. I said if one day I need to transfer my numbers out,
I will need them and I have the right to get my account number. She didn't
really want to give it to me but I stood my ground firmly and forced her to
give me my account numbers.
Each Boost Mobile cellphone number has its account number. This account
number is not the same even if you have 4 lines and pay $100 per month.
However, the PIN is the same for all the 4 lines. PIN is selected by me on
day one of the service. Boost Mobile can also text the PIN to my cellphone.
Boost Mobile system can't text the account number to the cellphone. I had to
write down all four account numbers with a pen and paper. It's a good habit
to turn on phone recording software during the call; just in case if a bad
connection, low call quality or something else. I also made the staff repeat
the numbers back to me so that I know I got them all written down correctly
. It took a while to finish this call.
I then google around and found that if I port the numbers in any Cricket
Wirless store, there will be a $15 fee for each number. Total of $60. This
is a fee that I am not willing to pay. Thankfully, if I placed an order
online then there is no need to pay this $15 per line fee. The way to order
4 phones and port 4 numbers from Cricketwireless.com is a bit tricky. First,
I added a phone then added the $55 unlimited plan for that phone then I
repeat this process 3 more times, so all 4 phones are added and all 4 phones
got its own plan. The total cost of the phone and plan can be as low as $
100(if selecting a free Cricket Wireless phone, I understand some people may
like iPhone 6S 32GB for $100 each but I am not an Apple fan). I then had to
enter one account number and one Boost Mobile PIN on the CricketWireless
site.
This is where I noticed that there is a problem with Cricket Wireless
business logic. It assumed all four numbers that I planed to port-in were
all using the same account number and PIN. It didn't ask me to enter the 2nd
, 3rd and 4th set of account number and PIN. I was worried that there would
be an issue on porting, if there is, then they will not ship and I get
nothing. After I placed the order and wrote down my Cricket Wireless PIN, I
started an online text chat with Cricket Wireless and I informed Cricket
Wireless online staff about this problem and gave the phone number, account
number, PIN, my zip code. The staff updated my order and asked me to wait
for a few minutes to be sure that the porting would work on his side. After
about 10 minutes of online chatting, it was all done. I waited a day and got
my 4 phones.
One thing I like about Cricket Wireless is that unlike MetroPCS, Cricket
Wireless SIM card is not tied to a phone, that means if one has a rooted
phone that has a 3rd party wifi hotspot app available, then you can use and
share all the 4G LTE data you want via Wifi. This can be useful in some
cases. But keep in mind that Cricket Wireless does require you to keep the
same SIM card in the same phone for 6 phones to unlock the phone. I think we
all know one can unlock Cricket Wireless phones via att.com.
Next day noon-ish, I got a package from UPS that has all 4 free phones from
Cricket Wirelss. Free next day shipping is so amazing. It saved me like two
hours of time and $60 fee(if I had to go to a store). I went to Cricket
Wireless site and activated the service. I now enjoy 4 bars when I am on my
bed. It is so much better than the crappy Sprint network. | d****o

saved $100. Good job getting 4 free phones all at once. Many people got
order cancellations when they order free phones online. |
