I want to share my personal experience of porting out one of my four Cricket
Wireless numbers to MetroByT-Mobile(MetroPCS) and two of the four numbers
to Net 10. And I am giving up one number because I dont need it anymore.
My Cricket Wireless billing cycle ended on Nov 27, 2020. And I ported one
number to MetroPCS on Dec 5, 2020 because they are offering $200 prepaid
Mastercard after 3 months of services. Each month I must pay $40 for
unlimited talk, text and data, no wifi hotspot included on this plan. I use
my iphone7+, port in my number, pay $120 or maybe $160 for 4 months and I
will get a $200 back. I feel that I get the service for free and make a few
$$. It will be an amazing deal if it works out perfectly. The MetroPCS web
page has no problem to port the Cricket Wireless suspended account phone
number. The whole process was easy.
And then I tried to port my second and third of my Cricket Wireless number
to Net10(T-Mobile network SIM card). The web page sucks. It took me two
hours without any error message to know that it failed to port. I had to
spend another one hour and 30 minutes to get a real live person to manual
port the number. And this Net10 staff said I couldn't port my number because
it is expired. I had to correct him and told him that Cricket Wireless said
my numbers are suspended and not expired and I am allowed to port and ask
him to give it a try. After a 5 minutes of talking I made him agree and to
give it a try. It worked. The two SIM cards in the iPhone 7+ and iPhone SE(
2016 version) started working while I was talking to the Net10 staff.
Cricket Wireless allows a customer to port out the numbers within 60 days
once the account is suspended. But it is always best to port the number
while the service is still on. However, life doesn't work in the way I want
most of the time. The shipping delay, the human malware or other event can
be out of our control and we may not be able to port in and out on time.
You should always have the four following items to port out.
1. your Cricket Wireless account number which can be found on its site, once
you log in.
2. your PIN which is something you created when you got your Cricket
Wireless number.
3. your Cricket Wireless number
4. Your name and zip code.
I thought about porting my 4th Cricket Wireless number to Mint Mobile but I
found that there is really no need because I only use this number as a Wifi
Hotspot and no one ever calls this number. So I stopped right here. And now
I have three numbers, all on T-Mobile network. I plan to start a new number
with Mint mobile(T-Mobile network) and another new number with Red Pocket(at
&t network) next week to fill my wifi hotspot needs |
