Job Description
This position is in the area of dynamics and kinetics of thermal processes
at surfaces and interfaces, and transport, chemical kinetics, and phase
transformations in nanoscale amorphous films and porous materials. We seek
highly motivated and creative scientists to work in a collaborative
environment with PNNL scientists. Prior experience in molecular beams and/
or surface science is desirable but not essential. Experience with
fundamental techniques including LEED, Auger, FTIR, XPS, optical
spectroscopy, and temperature programmed desorption spectroscopy is highly
desirable. Additionally, familiarity with mathematical analysis of kinetic
data and/or modeling thin film optical properties is advantageous.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years from an
accredited college or university. All staff at the Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in
the United States.

Preferred Education/Credential
PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Surface Science is
required.

Job Description
Post-doctoral position in experimental surface science. Studies aimed at
understanding the catalytic properties of metal oxide clusters/thin films
deposited onto metal substrates. The candidate will prepare, characterize
oxide thin films, and evaluate their catalytic properties. Primary
experimental tools are IRAS, XPS, LEED, and TPD.

the United States.

Qualifications
Must have completed Ph.D. in chemistry, preferable in physical chemistry.
The candidate must have UHV experience, and preferable be familiar with IRAS.
