我想今年申请准备明年去美国读博，现在在国内读硕士，做高分子物理，主要做聚合物
太阳能电池的薄膜调控的。我想毕业之后看看能不能在美国找到工作，不大想再做科研
了。但是我完全不清楚美国的就业情况，只是大致听了说化工啊，合成就业不错。但是
不知道前辈们能不能有更详细点的指点，比如比较细的方向啊，要是能和我现在做的结
合就更好了。因为是身体不很好，所以尽量不想做合成的东西，感觉毒性太大了。真希
望大家多给点建议，要是能有告诉具体哪个老板那就业好就更好啦~~~~

five years. Since I got there 6 years ago, I heard plenty of organic
synthesis positions are on market, even three years before, my master
classmates got 3 offers in NJ phama corps. What about now?? Looks like it's
also not that good. Big pharms have cut a lot of positions. Pfizer shut up
their several research centers. So deeply doubt on polymer. Who knows?
Just try your luck. Hearing is not reliable. Only you really enter this
area, you'll find truth which is time- and case-dependent.

based. Its knowledge (a variety of analytical techniques) are well
suitable to all kinds of industries like pharm, oil, semiconductor, material
, biotech. Just because of those, you'll find this subject is phasing out
gradually from department of chemistry, even disappearing in some schools.
The most professors in this field are 挂羊头卖狗肉. So it's necessary to
discriminate them based on your goal. To industry, chromatography(
especially separation and column stationary phase) and mass spectrometry (
biomarker and imaging) are preferred. Then you may go analytical instrument
companies or pharm. Nanomaterial, electrochemistry, spectroscopy and NMR
study on proteins are way too close to physical chemistry, unless you like
academics.
Although those positions are huge, there are some disadvantages in there:do
not sponsor, lower pay, laborious work, not requiring higher degree,
difficult to promotion, not creative. Also there is a danger for pharms to
outsource them to China and India since they are much cheaper and do not
care environment pollution. Of course, if this will happen, any major
including CS also can not get away with outsourcing.
Best way to know whether your area is promising or not, is to check out the
current positions of former group members (especially Chinese counterparts)
. So you wanna pick up this major for Phd, making sure your boss is NIU

别放弃polymer就行，最好自己会做合成，哪怕一点点
